Join us for a behind-the-scenes tour of The Horticultural Society of New York Library on Wednesday November 29 at 6:00 P.M. This is located at 128 West 58th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues. Katherine Powis, Head Librarian of the Horticultural Library, will be giving the tour. She has facilitated the growth of this library for twelve years.The library collects material on general gardening practices and the history of horticulture and garden design. Included are works on specific plants, urban horticulture, gardening with children, indoor gardening, plant folklore, careers in horticulture, plant exploration and related fields such as botanical illustration, floral design and basic botany. As a special feature, Carol Bolt will demonstrate some of the techniques used in her basic botanical illustration class. Ms. Bolt teaches flower painting, botanical illustration and drawing at the society.
