New York City Section of ACRL/NY, Spring 2004 Program on the Invisible Web

The New York City Section of ACRL/NY invites you to attend a presentation on
the Invisible Web by Valeda Dent at the Wexler Library of Hunter College(68th
and Lexington)on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM.

Space is limited and an RSVP is required. Light refreshments will be served
at a brief reception following the presentation.

THE INVISIBLE WEB
There are a number of resources that are difficult to find on the Web unless
you know exactly where to go. They are usually content-rich and publicly
accessible and can include archives, association papers, and government
agencies. Their dynamically-generated information, which is "invisible" to
regular search engines, forms part of what is called the Deep or Invisible Web.
Our session will cover the basic mechanics of the Invisible Web, how to locate
Invisible Web resources, and when to use the Invisible Web.

Valeda F. Dent (MLIS, MSW) is the Head of Reference at the Hunter College Main
Library. Previously, she was project director for MALIBU, a collaborative
information technology effort of Oxford University, King's College London, and
Southampton University in the United Kingdom. Her primary research interest is
agent technology and its use within the hybrid library.
