Jim Neal:: Abstract: From Greek Chorus to Odysseus: The Role of the Library Community in Changing Scholarly Communication.

Summary: The library community has advanced over the past twenty years from whiners about the "serials crisis" to leaders in educating, advocating and advancing change in scholarly communication. Using the work of the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) as an illustration, developments in such areas as open access publishing, the repository movement, industry consolidation, national information policy, faculty partnerships, and monograph publishing will be highlighted.
