ACRL/NY User Experience Discussion Group

The Elusive Library Home Page: Applying User Experience Design Concepts to The Landing Page

A members only discussion

Fri Nov 20, 2026

10am-11am via Zoom meeting

The Library Home Page remains one of the most important landing pages where different library departments fight for real estate. There is so much competing content on the home page that it may be overwhelming for library users. From the different search boxes, search options, menu items, news section, Chat reference widget, and the controversial rotating carousel slideshow promoting events and services, neither ADA compliant or UX friendly.

Join us on Fri Nov 20, 2026 from 10am-11am via Zoom meeting for a lively discussion on how to design optimal Library Homepages, what to include and what to overlook, how to mix engaging visuals with text, and how to avoid burying useful library content.

This discussion group is for ACRL/NY members. If you are not a member, please join us at https://acrlny.org/join-us
